A tribute concert in honour of Ali Farka Touré took place in Milan on 4 May 2006; concert report on the sitelink above. Although hastily put together, the line up still included Toumani Diabaté & the Symmetric Orchestra, Tinariwen and Robert Plant's Strange Sensation. A bigger homage, with more Malian and international artists, will be organized later this year in Bamako (end November or begin December). Ali Farka Touré was not only a great musician; he was also a passionate advocate for human and environmental rights. This is why I placed this link on musical AND 'non-musical' tribes. PS.
