Dave Davies 'Transformation' Live CD Release!
This week sees the Angel Air release of my dad's 'Transformation live at the Alex Theater' CD from May 2003. It was a wonderful evening in the company of Dave and his excellent band and friends and fans on that warm humid evening in Glendale, California. If you have never seen Dave Davies and his Kink Kronikles band perform live before, then this CD is for you. It truly captures the greatest moments of a Dave Davies concert and more. This concert was truly special and unique in aid of the Soroptimist of the Verdugo's, and has been captured like a jewel forever with this album! Particular favourite tracks of mine are The Blues, See My Friends, Rock You, Rock Me, Flowers in the Rain and the cool Psychedelic Trance infuenced title track 'Transformation' followed by an excellent version of Livin' On A Thin Line. As a wee kid Father Christmas always got my little booty wiggling at those early 80's Kinks US stadium shows, and i'm glad to say it still does the same for me 25 years later! This album truly rocks! - Christian Davies

"I bet you're wondering why I am here. For the spiritual change, the transformation is here. This is a time i've waited for all my life. There's a fire in my soul burning deep inside." - It Ain't Over ('till it's Done)

Original Kinks member Dave Davies played this live gig back in May 2003 as a fundraiser for a human rights charity. This live show draws on Kinks classics and solo hits with a few surprises. There are two pieces, 'Transformation' parts one & two that are meant for meditation, something Dave Davies enthuse about in his linear notes. Highlights? Well the obvious Kinks classics like 'Dead End Street' (you can see where Blur and their Britpop chums got their ides from) and 'You Really Got Me'. Interesting blues workout called funnily enough 'The Blues', whilst flowers in the rain see Davies vocal take centre stage with a heartfelt vocal.

He maybe the less well known of the two brothers but Dave Davies has undeniable talent and this live show just proves it. ***1/2
